261 - GREAT NORTHERN 65 – 90 days  - A heavy yielder of “navy” type beans that dates back to 1907.  The 2 foot plants produce straight, 5 inch pods with 5-6 thin, white seeds enclosed.  Excellent for soups or baking.  An heirloom variety grown by the Mandan Indians.

BEETS

330 - GOLDEN DETROIT  50-55 days  - A very nice change from the standard color. For sweetest flavor, harvest the gold/orange roots when young. The bushy tops make excellent greens when cooked. A good choice used as micro-greens, for grilling mini-veggies, or pickling.

100 days - The intense flavor of this red variety of celery makes it stand apart from the standard green ones. Cold hardy and disease resistant, it's delicious eaten fresh or in soups and stews.

OC05 - BABY CHOI   40-50 days - This long standing variety of pak choi has large white midribs and a slight mustard taste. Use like celery or for greens; also delicious in stir-frys. A cool weather plant that prefers the temperatures of early spring or fall. A very common variety throughout most of China.

567 HICKORY KING (Yellow) CORN  85-90 days  - Excellent for roasting ears, grits, or cornmeal, this Appalachian heirloom dates back to the late 1800's. The 12 foot stalks produce 2 ears with large, yellow kernels.

FL122 - HOLLYHOCK, NIGRA  (Alcea rosea )  - This variety was a favorite of Thomas Jefferson's at his Monticello residence. The showy, single flowers are a very dark maroon, almost black color. Best grown in a sunny, well-drained location. Lovely when grown on a trellis or arbor. Self-seeding biennial. Height – 6 feet.

FL124 - NIGHT PHLOX - Midnight Candy - (Zaluzianskya capensis)  - Beautiful white flowers release a heavenly scent at twilight.  The 12 to 14 inch plants are easy-to-grow, and do well in containers. This South African favorite is a wonderful addition to a Moon Garden.  Annual.

FL123 - NIGHT SCENTED STOCK - Starlight Scentsation (Matthiola longipetala) - When dusk approaches, this delightfully fragrant variety releases its sweet, aromatic scent. The 15-18 inch plants are lovely with a combination of pink, lavender and white colors. A good choice for Moon Gardens! Annual. Height – 15-18 inches.

FL 125 - SWEET ALYSSUM - Aphrodite Mixture  (Lobularia maritima procumbens) - This delightful mix will attract butterflies into your garden. The lovely shades of salmon, pink, apricot, yellow, lavender and white look lovely when gown as a ground cover or in rock gardens. The 4 inch plants are low-growing and will tolerate full sun to partial shade. Annual, but will self-seed. Height – 4 inches.

6069 - RED ICEBERG  70–80 days - These nicely sized red crispheads contrast beautifully with the standard green icebergs. The fairly tight, 16 inch wide heads hold well without bolting. Has a nice, mild flavor preferred by many.

719 - LITTLE MARVEL  60-65 days - This old dependable variety produces heavy yields of fine quality, dark green peas. The dwarf, 15 – 20 inch plants grow bushy with pods containing 6-7 medium sized peas. An heirloom that dates back to 1900.  English pea.

O718 - CASCADIA  58-70 days  - The 3 foot vines produce very sweet, 3 inch, fiberless pods.  Frequent harvesting will keep this prolific variety producing longer.  The thick, blocky pods are crisp and flavorful.  Shows some disease resistance.  Snap pea.

Sweet Peppers

70963 - CORNO DI TORO ROSSO  75-100 days - A very attractive Italian heirloom that bears long, 8-10 inch, curved fruit in the shape of a bull's horn. The mildly flavored peppers can be harvested green for frying, or let sweeten on the vine until they've ripened to a rich red color.

7071 - HABANERO, MIXED COLORS 90-100 days - This mixture provides colorful variety in your pepper patch. The blistering hot assortment includes red, orange, white and brown habaneros – try them all to find your favorite! Incredibly hot; always wear gloves when handling.

7062 - HINKELHATZ  90 days  - A very hot variety that has been a favorite of the Pennsylvania Dutch since 1880. The 18-24 inch plants produce pendant sized fruits resembling chicken hearts. A good choice for pickling or drying. Matures to a brilliant red color.

3046 - DIXIE LEE CROWDER  60-65 days - This high-yielding semi-bush variety will produce two crops per season. The light yellow/green, 8 inch pods contain small-to-medium sized, tasty brown peas. A Southern favorite.

3042 - KNUCKLE PURPLE HULL   60 – 80 days  - A brown sugar crowder type that has a purple hull when mature.  The strong, erect, bush plants form big, plump, dark-brown peas that taste great.

3043 - MISSISSIPPI SILVER  60-90 days - The 30 inch plants bear smooth, silvery 7 inch pods that are easy shellers. The upright plants do well in hot, humid climates. The pods are set at foliage level above the vine for easy picking. An early and uniformly maturing variety.

O922 - GIANT WINTER  50 days - A heavy-yielding variety with glossy, dark green, tasty leaves. The slightly savoyed leaves are great when picked as baby spinach. A great choice for fall plantings or over-wintering.

O1072 - EARLIANA  58-70 days - Introduced in 1900, this old time early variety was very popular in the Eastern part of the U.S. The open spreading, vigorous vines produce clusters of red, 4-5 oz. Fruits with solid, firm flesh. Very productive. Small, indeterminate vines.

1074 - GERMAN JOHNSON  80 days - A high-yielder of 1 – 1½ pound, pink fruits. Very meaty with a mild, low-acid flavor. Has very few seeds, making it a good choice for slicing or canning.  Indeterminate vines.

1073 - JAPANESE BLACK TRIFELE  80 days - This very dark mahogany colored tomato has green shoulders and is resistant to cracking. The 4-6 oz. fruits have a rich, complex flavor and an unusual pear shape.  Truly worth growing.  Indeterminate vines.

177 - OLD BROOKS  85 days - This old heirloom is a beefsteak type, and also has some disease resistance.  The deep, red fruit is blemish free, has few seeds, a small core and is fine tasting, with a slightly acidic flavor.  Indeterminate vines.

1070 OLD GERMAN TOMATO 75 days  - A favorite from the Virginia Mennonite community. The yellow fruits have a red center visible on the surface and throughout the core. The oblong-shaped tomatoes often weigh over a pound, and have few seeds. Not a heavy producer, but the taste makes up for it. Indeterminate vines.

2022 - CRIMSON SWEET  80-95 days - A high sugar variety that's always sweet and juicy.  The blocky, 25 pound fruits have a tough, green striped rind, deep red flesh, and few seeds.  Always a favorite at Farmer's Markets.

2025 GOLDEN MIDGET 
65-82 days - This compact-growing melon is a good choice for smaller gardens. The tough green rinds turn golden-orange when the 7-8 inch melons mature. A short season variety that has very sweet, rich, red flesh.

2026 - MOUNTAIN SWEET YELLOW  95-100 days - The high sugar content of these 20-35 pound melons have made it a popular choice for generations. The large, striped fruits have deep yellow flesh, which is always sweet and tasty. This is the yellow fleshed version of Mountain Sweet, which was popular in the 1840's in markets throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York.
